“Joy introduced me to “hot yoga” a few years ago and the result was amazing!” - Craig fuller

“Joy miller was one of my very first yoga teachers. i started yoga because of chronic neck and back pain. it was through her teaching that i fell in love with yoga. she’s an amazing teacher with a comprehensive knowledge of the postures and sequencing and a dedicated practitioner. she inspired me to become a yoga teacher. she is a beautiful yogi inside and out and i am grateful to have studied with her.” - Jolin Conine

Joy is a native of Savannah and a proud mother of 2 sons, Robert and Henry. Robert is a graduate of Savannah Tech and lives and works in Richmond Hill. Henry is a graduate of University of Georgia and lives in Madagascar as a Peace Corp Volunteer.

She left in 1990 to begin her career as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. Joy has lived in Salt Lake City, UT; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Toronto, Canada; Louisville, KY and Southern Pines/Pinehurst, NC.

In 1999, while living in Louisville, Joy discovered Bikram Yoga. An event in her life left her searching for more and Bikram was it. She has been practicing ever since.

In 2001, Joy and her family moved to Southern Pines, NC. where there were no yoga studios. Joy dreamt of Bikram. With the help and encouragement of her family, she decided to open a hot yoga studio. Upon the advice of her Bikram teacher, Joy did her immersion training with Jimmy Barkan in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She opened her studio in 2004 and sold it in 2007 to move back to the Savannah area. It is now called Hot Asana Yoga of Southern Pines.  Another former student opened a Bikram studio there as well. Both are thriving.

Joy is passionate about yoga and loves sharing, spreading, practicing and teaching it. She teaches with humor, heart, and honesty.
